A simple meal can include foods from several groups: vegetables or fruit, grains, protein, and perhaps dairy or a fortified alternative. Different families use different foods and traditions; there is no one perfect plate.
Before you cook, check what ingredients you have and how much time you need. Read the steps, wash produce, and put out the tools. If you need heat or sharp tools, work with a grown-up.
Afterward, store leftovers safely and clean your space. Planning, making, and cleaning are all parts of the same skill. The more you practice, the more choices you can make for yourself.
