A kitchen has helpful tools and a few risks. Wash your hands with soap before handling food. Ask a grown-up before using knives, a stove, or an oven. Keep cords and handles away from the edge.
Foods need different kinds of care. Wash produce. Keep raw meat away from food that is ready to eat, and use separate boards or wash them carefully. Cold foods should go back in the refrigerator promptly.
If something spills, tell a grown-up and clean it safely. If you are unsure whether food is safe, do not taste it to test. Asking is part of being a careful cook.
