Spot the Source

When you read a claim, first look for who made it. A news article, a video, and an advertisement can all talk about the same topic for different reasons. Find the author or organization before you believe or share the claim.

Next, look for a date and evidence. Is the information current? Can you find the same fact in another reliable source? A picture alone may not tell the whole story because it can be cropped or used with the wrong caption.

You do not have to decide instantly. Pause, ask a grown-up when something feels odd, and compare sources. Checking is a skill, not a sign that you are confused.
