Internet Safety Rules

The internet is a wonderful place to learn and play, and a few simple rules keep it that way. Rule one: personal information stays private. Your full name, address, school, and passwords are yours - never type them into a game, a chat, or a website without a grown-up saying it is okay.

Rule two: people online are not always who they say they are. Someone claiming to be a kid might not be. If anyone you do not know in real life wants to chat privately, meet up, or keep a secret from your family, tell a grown-up right away. That is never tattling.

Rule three: be kind and think before you post. Words on a screen reach real people with real feelings, and things posted online can stay around for a very long time. If a message would hurt to receive, do not send it.
